The Journey

Born Gothama Thamira Manoj Rajapakshe, 5 March 1981, in rural Sri Lanka. What follows is his path, in his own terms.

Mahaguru

01

Chapter One

A child of deep sensitivity

Wahigala in Matale, then the remote village of Galabodawatte in Theldeniya. He attended school and absorbed almost nothing that was taught. He could sense what people were thinking. He struggled to eat, overwhelmed by awareness of those starving elsewhere in the world.

Meditation arrived on its own, not to gain anything, but to quiet what was flooding him.

“Why do we have to learn what is taught to us? What is the purpose of living?”

02

Chapter Two

The search for truth beyond knowledge

Asked at a meditation centre why he had come, he answered without thinking: “I came to provide food for the entire country. I want to ease the hunger of the entire country.” Others laughed.

He first believed the answer was wealth. Then he saw that everything physical decays, and that only truth lasts. Abilities surfaced, including seeing past lives, reading minds and perceiving karmic tendency, and he suppressed them, refusing the distraction.

03

Chapter Three

Years of solitude

He went into the jungle and stayed nearly four years. Minimal food, minimal shelter. Meditation running for days without break, past what the body was built to carry.

Enlightenment matured there: the formation of phenomena, cause and effect, dependent origination, the mechanics of karma, the root structure of suffering. Unlike others, he did not cultivate Maithriya through effort. He was Maithriya.

“Can this realisation free living beings from suffering?”

Chapter Four

Through the spiritual cores of the cosmos

From Arahantship the transformation continued: Buddhahood, then Sammā Sambuddhahood, then Maithriya Buddha and the mastery of Purity Energy. He held the power of seven Buddhas until his body could not sustain it and dissolved them.

Then Shiva, the force that rises against injustice, unstable. Then Nataraja. Then Narayana.

Releasing from Narayana, he became Mahaguru: the Great Guru, a presence able to appear within the thought of another and transform it. He does not teach in words so much as awaken what is already there. He chose to remain in this state. It is the only one in which the body finds balance while still serving.

If the decision has stopped moving, start with a conversation.

One line on what it concerns is enough. A coordinator gets back to you and arranges the time.

What you share stays between you and Mahaguru.
